National OSM Student Science Olympiad Competition at the National Level.
Students of the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Medan Area (UMA) have succeeded in making the campus proud with very proud achievements, as national champions in the Student Science Olympiad (OSM) competition for undergraduate students and teachers throughout Indonesia. This activity was organized by POSI (Indonesian Science Olympiad Training), on December 20, 2020, with participants representing Indonesian universities. This competition is conducted online which has a website prepared by POSI, namely ACT POSI.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Business, Medan Area University (UMA), Mr. Dr. Ihsan Effendi, M.Si. said, he really appreciated the success of the Faculty of Economics & Business students who had won the national science Olympiad champion. “In the future, we will continue to support the younger students who want to take part in similar competitions,” said the Dean who was very productive in producing his scientific work.
Of course this achievement is inseparable from the full support of the Head of Study Program and the related Secretary of the Study Program. For this reason, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Medan Area (UMA) congratulated and gave the highest appreciation to the leaders of the Study Program and the Deputy Dean of Bid. Students who have contributed to achievements in the field of science, namely Mr. Ir. M. Yamin Siregar, MM. Head of Accounting Study Program Mrs. Sari Nuzullina R, SE, Ak, M.Acc, and Secretary of Study Program Mrs. Atika Rizki, SE, MSAk.

The student who has a myriad of achievements and experiences in this competition said, “Since these children received information about science competitions and participated in them, I continue to give them enthusiasm and motivation to be confident in answering questions or questions.”
Sari Nuzullina R, SE, Ak, M.Acc as a lecturer who is experienced in designing competition strategies said, “in participating in the competition we have to be calm and focused, so I emphasize the students so that they are calm and focused on answering questions, and thank God they succeeded.”
Lamhot Yartono Simbolon Npm.178330208 won a silver medal in the national student olympiad which I presented in the field of economics. With 1250 participants with a score of 45.
In his remarks, My impression in participating in the student Olympics at the national level is that I had a dream to become a participant in the Olympics at the national level, starting in semester 3 I started to be active in participating in competitions both from regional and provincial levels by carrying the proud name of Medan Area University.
And in semester 5 I took part in competitions at the international level with PPDIP-3 and FF_singapore competitions and at the end of the test I failed, maybe I was not prepared enough, and with the support of UMA lecturers and the university, I was invited to take part in cultural competitions from Puspresnas and the BUMN MIPA Olympiad . And must choose one of these competitions. And finally decided to try to participate in the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad held by BUMN in semester 6 and only got the top 10 ..
I am proud to bring Medan Area university because of the strong support from Medan Area university lecturers and my university parties trying to take part in the student Olympics at the national level (OSM) by bringing competitions in the field of Economics.
Had a down time because the participants were not only from North Sumatra but all over Indonesia (Ui, UGM, ITB, STAN, UNHAD, UNDIP, IPB etc.),
but with careful preparation they can finally be confident in taking the Test.
Another even happier luck was when I received information that I had won the OSM competition and won a national silver medal. I was surprised, happy, and proud to be the one when I learned this information. Because after going through a series of selection tests, praying with all my heart, and waiting anxiously for the announcement, I finally got good news. Initially, I was really desperate because until the date of the announcement of the winner that had been determined there was no information whatsoever, but one night, my friend who was a friend in the competition told me that I had succeeded in becoming a national medalist.
UMA WE DID IT
My message for other students is to prepare yourself carefully, with economics majors we must also be able to master the English language because 90% of the questions in the national level competition are English, keep practicing, stop staying up late on things that are not important. I hope that all those who wish to participate in the competition can get the gold medal.
